Hiking poles are beneficial and we came down more on the sides of the steps when we could. Arduous hike. hard and strenuous. The trail was tough, and there was a lot of damage from the recent storm but two rangers were working hard to clear the trail. In a number of places there is a LOT of risk. Hell of a hike...possibly, the hardest in South Carolina, IMO...more strenuous than Rainbow Falls and Falls Creek Falls for sure. This park has suffered so much over the years from wild fires and storms but my hat is off to the dedicated park service employees and volunteers who work hard and go above and beyond to help keep wonderful parks like Table Rock looking beautiful! So much to do. The upper falls flow down 411 feet and can be accessed by a pathway in North Carolina, and the lower falls – which are 400-feet high – can be accessed from South Carolina.
